Credit Cards for Bee Stings
My son is 17 months old and has never been stung by a bee.
But if and when it happens, apparently I should reach for my credit card.
I was reading through this month’s issue of Parents magazine and found one of those articles that talks about the healing properties of everyday items around your house.

Mother's Day and Alligators
An alligator.
My first Mother’s Day a year ago will forever be associated with an alligator.
That’s because we were living in Florida and spent it hiking a nature trail in a state park. Jack was wide-eyed and strapped to his daddy’s chest. And there it was – the alligator. He was sitting very still on a log in the middle of the river. The eye facing us gleamed.

Mayday Mayday
This week marks May Day. Do you remember celebrating May Day as a child? While we certainly didn’t celebrate it in our home growing up (though it would have been great to see the look on my dad’s face if my mom declared herself May Queen and asked us to toss fresh flower petals over her head), an elementary school teacher or two throughout my youth inevitably sent me dancing around a makeshift maypole. Well, there’s a different kind of mayday going on in my house this week. And it has nothing to do with daisies and dancing. — continue reading
Feeling the Love
Allow me to get sappy for a moment. Because I’m feeling the Tuscmoms love and I just wanted to share. Since we launched in November, we’ve been slowly gaining members. There’s a core group of moms who have been here since the beginning. And now there are new moms logging on every day. And the members who found us months ago are so excited for and welcoming to the newcomers. It makes me smile. — continue reading
A Day in the Life of a Clueless Cloth Diapering Mama
So I ventured into the world of cloth diapering recently. I wanted to try it out to see if it’s something I might want to do with baby No. 2 (no, I don’t have any news). Here’s how one of my days went. — continue reading
Words, Glorious Words
I'm such a new mom. I'm keeping a running list of all of my son's new words. It grows every day and my pride swells with the list. It's such a thrill to hear him using words in context too. At 16 months, he knows enough to say "Ah-dee" (all done) after something is finished such as a meal or a diaper change. Then he claps for himself. — continue reading
2008 Outdoor Toys of the Year
It’s that time of year again – time to bust out the outdoor toys. If you are wondering what to buy your child for the yard this season, this list may help. These are the crème de la crème of outdoor toys this year according to the Toy Industry Association, Inc. — continue reading
Finding New Tunes Through My Toddler (and an Urban Legend)
I knew one day my kids would turn me on to music I otherwise would never know about. But I never thought today would be the day. After all, Jack is only 16 months old. Here is how it happened. — continue reading
Oh the Stress of Eggs
I consider myself a decent cook. I make a good eggplant parm, a killer baked stuffed chicken and a yummy steak marinara. So can someone please explain to me why I stress out over boiling eggs? Of course, this weekend is the biggest egg-boiling weekend of the year (according to the American Egg Board, around 93 million dozen eggs are sold in America Easter week! Wow!). So I am already sweating. Now that my 15 month-old son is eating hard-boiled eggs, I want to make extra sure I do it right. What’s there to stress about, you ask? As I put the eggs in the pot, I worry they’ll crack. As they boil and rub up against each other, I keep worrying they’ll crack. Then when a few do crack, I throw them away because I worry they aren’t safe. After they’re boiled and I’m cracking them (all that worry about them cracking just to turn around and crack them – gotta love it), I worry I’ll miss pieces of shell and we’ll all choke. Big sigh. If you are a freak about boiling eggs too or if you just dig fun egg facts (who doesn’t?), check out this egg info from the American Egg Board: — continue reading
